SE 2020 AWARD. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded six separate System Engineering 2020 (SE2020), Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) contracts totaling up to $6.5 billion over 10 years. Under these contracts, the selected companies will perform engineering work that will help transform and modernize the nation’s airspace into the NextGen. Under SIR 1, Research and Development/Mission Analysis Support program, two of the successful company’s receiving these contracts are ITT's (full and open team) and Metron Aviation’s (set-aside team). RVA is a member of these two winning teams.
Panama City, FL Airport project - In May 2010, Panama City, FL opened a new airport now called the NW Florida Beaches International Airport. The RVA team installed the Instrument Landing System (ILS) which was rated by the FAA Southern Region as the "best" ILS installation it has seen in years." RVA also installed ATC Communications and supplied the controllers to operate the new facility. The transition from the old tower to the new was seamless and transparent to the flying public. Ocala, FL Airport project - RVA successfully installed a robust communications system in the new Ocala Airport Control Tower constructed by Edwards Construction, Inc. RVA teamed with Edwards to deliver and install a new state-of-the-art voice switch system; radio systems that included the associated antenna networks and cabling; remote weather systems that provides instant wind speed and direction monitoring capabilities; and digital recording capabilities of all communications between controllers and aircraft. The new control tower with its enhanced communications systems provides safer and more efficient operations in accordance with the FAA's guidelines for ATC. Engineering Installation Design for LED PAPIs at Vero Beach, FL - RVA provided installation engineering at the Vero Beach test site in support of the FAA's NEXTGEN program. This provides vendors with a safe site to demo their Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) Systems using Light Emitting Diode (LED) products designed for testing and evaluation. San Marcos, TX ATCT - This is expected to be completed and entered into the FAA Federal Contract Tower Program in late summer 2010. New Braunfels, TX ATCT has been approved for entry into the FAA Federal Contract Tower Program and is expected to enter the program NLT end of September 2010 |
